How Yogurt Boosts Your Immunity
Live active cultures called Probiotics found in yogurt are healthy bacteria that keep the gut and intestinal tract free of disease-causing germs.A daily 7-ounce (200 ml) portion of yogurt is effective in boosting immunity. Probiotics are also available as supplement pills. However studies have found that yogurt is as effective as pills in providing the benefits. Probiotics appear to stimulate white blood cells.
In an Swedish study of 181 factory employees, those who drank a daily supplement of probiotics took 33 percent fewer sick days than those who did not. It is safe to have two 6-ounce (180 ml) servings a day.
Be sure you choose a yogurt that is sugar free and not flavored. Ideally try preparing yogurt at home.
